Trimming your hair makes it grow faster....NOT!

Sometimes it makes me laugh when I hear people say that your hair grows faster when you trim it. Physiologically, it's impossible that cutting the ends of your hair will make it grow out of your head faster. If that were true, you would get gnarly roots if you color your hair to boot. A better explanation of why one would benefit from regular (every 6-8 weeks) trims is that your hair will get longer faster because there will be less breakage and split ends. If you want long hair, regular trims will get you to your goal faster. It will take forever if you don't trim your ends because the ends will split and break, taking length off all the while. So, make sure to stay up on your trims people!

Should you cut bangs?

Penelope's new bangs! Hot!
My clients often ask me whether I think they should cut bangs or not. My answers vary, depending on a few things. First, if you have a strong widow's peak, you are limited to the type of bangs you should get. Second, if you are not willing to spend a little time styling them in the morning, then forget it. Third, if you have a wrinkly forehead, and are unwilling to get botox, then bangs are a less expensive alternative to taking a few years off your look. Bangs are not a huge commitment, so it's worth a shot to try them out, if they don't work for you, you can brush them to the side or clip them till they grow out. Personally, I always have some type of bang, whether long and sweeping or shorter and choppy. In my onpinion, cutting bangs is an easy way to change up your look without spending a lot of money, and I'd give it a try if I were you!

Refresh your color, naturally

Do you find that your haircolor fades during the summer months? I know I do! One way to make sure your color stays vibrant and fresh looking, without damaging it, is to use a color shampoo like Artec. With a variety of shades from black to violet, Artec shampoo deposits color molecules into faded out hair strands along with moisturizing kiwi extracts. Use this shampoo once a week or as needed to keep your hair looking like you just came from the salon, but without the price tag!

Leave in conditioner, it's for everyone

With Summer rapidly approaching, it's imperative that we protect our hair from the elements. I reccomend Enjoy conditioning spray to anyone who wishes to keep the integrity of their hair intact through the Summer months. This spray detangles, mositurizes, and protects your hair without weighing it down. It works great as a styling aid for those who don't like the feeling of product.

Hair extensions without damage!

Ever thinking about getting hair extensions, but don't want to spend the time and money just to end up with hair damage? Well, now you can have beautiful, thick,  long hair without damaging your own in the process. NXS hair compliments system uses hair tresses which are connected to your head by your own hair, but there is no glue, heat, or braiding. This unique system allows a few of your own hair strands to connect a full tress of hair, and there is no damage! The results are literally unnoticeable extensions and they last a few months before needing to be re-adjusted. I personally do these extensions, so if you're local, contact me! http://www.hairdesignbyamber.com/

Thinning Hair?

I am often asked what one can do about their thinning hair. The truth is, there are many causes for thinning hair which need to be addressed first. I always suggest one get their thyroid and hormone levels checked to clear that up first. Then, I ask the individual to assess their stress levels in the past twelve months. Often times, when one has been stressed out, they will notice hair shedding in the months to follow. Our stress hormones are secreted through our hair follicles, and if they are not cleansed properly, they create a blockage which chokes out our individual hair strands, creating thinning of the hair over all. It is important to use a deep cleansing or clarifying shampoo if you feel stressed, or if you notice hair thinning. A few brands I reccomend are Nioxin hair products, and Enjoy rejuvenating shampoo and conditioner. In extreme cases, one may need to use over the counter products containing minoxidil (Rogaine, Bosley) or obtain a prescription for propecia.
When everything has been tried, and one is not satisfied with their hair, there is one last thing that may help. XFusion hair fibers fill in the scarce areas on the head, creating a fuller hairline. The hair fibers come in many colors, and they are unnoticeable. They really work, I personally know someone close to me who uses them every day, and nobody knows! They offer a free trial shaker for first time customers, so try it today! http://www.xfusionhair.com/
